Avery’s passion for math and science comes from her love of logic puzzles and strategy games. “I guess it just makes sense for me to focus on a subject that is centered on exactly that,” she explains. Currently, Avery is in her final semester at the University of Texas at Austin, where she’s working towards a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology. On days when she’s not studying in the library or working with her Cram Crew students, you’ll find Avery taking a run around Town Lake, grabbing an iced cardamom latte from Noble Joe, and taking a dip in Barton Springs. “I’m so thankful to live in a place where I can spend so much time outdoors!”
Avery has been a part of the Cram Crew team for a year, and there have already been so many special moments along her journey. She shares, “I feel most proud when a student’s mindset shifts from ‘there’s so much I don’t know and can’t do’ to ‘look how much I’ve learned and what I’m capable of!’”. “It means they’ve grown their confidence, which sets the foundation for the rest of their academic and professional careers.”
Alongside shifting perspectives with her students, Avery has found the collaboration with her teammates to be a true highlight of her time at Cram Crew. “I could never do this on my own,” she says. “I am continuously grateful for the support of the Development team, who keep us looped in on test changes and answer my many one-off questions at the drop of a hat.”
Her team members match her sentiment, noting that Avery always has a smile on her face. They say she’s kind, deeply invested in the Cram Crew community, and a true team player.

Looking for a part-time role in Houston, Austin, or Dallas?
Join the Cram Crew team as an Academic Consultant and work one-on-one with students through our Academic Support, Test Preparation, and College Readiness services. Help students build confidence, strengthen skills, and reach their academic goals—all while gaining valuable experience.
As students embark on their academic journeys, Avery often reminds them that their dedication to the process is a critical component of their success. “I’m not magic,” she explains. “The majority of your success will come from your commitment and involvement both in and out of sessions.”
To ensure that students get the most out of their sessions and beyond, Avery recommends sleeping well and eating a good breakfast (first and foremost). Alongside that foundation, she uses tools like a long playlist of songs she’s heard a million times (to ensure she doesn’t focus on the words), a bit of caffeine, and a very detailed checklist to ensure she’s set up for success. “I also like to break dense content into bite-sized pieces to make it feel more attainable to learn,” she says. “I try to study over the course of a few days and give myself breaks during study sessions.”
“I hope every single one of them surpasses their reach scores!” she beams. “They are all capable of so much more than they even know, and it’s a joy to get a front seat to this journey.”
